Position Title:                         Recreation Specialist – Marina Manager

Job Summary:  This position is located at the MWR Marina. Incumbent will work by the direction of the Community Recreation Director.  The incumbent will be responsible for the operation of a full-service marina that includes slip rental, watercraft rental, fishing equipment and related retail operations. 

Description of Duties:  The incumbent conducts inspection of the marina facility and associated equipment.  Prepares financial plans, budgets, inventories, cost controls and related records and reports.  Reviews the financial status of the assigned activity and recommends changes as necessary. Manages new property resources and provides advice on renovations and improvements.  Maintains and enforces security for funds, merchandise, supplies and equipment to preclude or minimize the potential for fraud, waste and abuse.  Prepares purchase requisitions and purchase card transactions for the purchase of equipment in support of the Marina programs. Prepares budget for programs and special events.

Either directly or indirectly through subordinate supervisors, manages activity employees.  Trains, schedules work, appraises performance, counsels assigned personnel, and recommends personnel actions.  Responsible for acting on internal and patron problems. Supports the Navy Equal Employment Opportunity policy, and ensures compliance with fire, safety, security and other environmental issues.  Monitors programs to ensure Navy Program standards are met or exceeded. 

Develops working partnerships with both on-base and off-base personnel to support and benefit Marina programs.

Qualification Requirements

Minimum of three (3) years experience that demonstrates progressively responsible administrative, professional and technical work involving Marina operations, including boating, the use and related mechanics of equipment, and recreational activities.

Incumbent must have ability to supervise, deal effectively with subordinates, management officials and patrons, and have the ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
