POSITION TITLE:                           Recreation Assistant-Fitness Center

LOCATION:                                     Naval Support Activity-Panama City

GRADE/SERIES/PAY:                      NF-0189-02, $15.00 Per Hour

EMPLOYMENT CATEGORY:        Flexible – No Benefits Apply

SCHEDULE:                                     20 - 26 hours per week

Opening Shifts: various start times as scheduled from 5:45AM, 11:45AM & 2:00PM

Closing Shifts: various end times as scheduled from 12:00Noon, 2:15PM & 8:15PM

Weekends and Holidays schedule 7:45AM to 4:15PM

Special Events are scheduled as needed

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:   Responsible for the operations of the front desk.  Answer telephones and provides information to patrons about programs and upcoming events.  Verifies identification and eligibility of all Fitness Center patrons.  Operates Point of Sale register and processes debit/credit card purchases, being responsible for proper fund handling.  Assists in the control of resale stock, maintaining appropriate log and inventory sheets. 

Issues gear and equipment, accepts reservations for programs, classes and facility use.  Prepares facilities for scheduled events.  May transport equipment and supplies to various sites located throughout the department.  Ensures gear issue room is kept in an orderly manner at all times.  Assists in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the Fitness Center.  Operates washers and dryers. 

Patrols Fitness Center, circulating among patrons to foster good customer relations, maintain good order and safe operation of equipment to help prevent bodily injury, and to prevent damage to the facility and equipment.  Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  Customer service and Point of Sales experience.  Basic computer skills.  A fitness and or sports background preferred.  The ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs.  Good communication and organizational skills.   Must pass the “Navy Basic” fitness certification class and possess CPR/AED and First Aid certifications within the first 3 months of employment.
