Position Title                    Recreation Assistant – Fitness Center Counter Control

Physical Location                Morale, Welfare & Recreation

Naval Support Activity Panama City

Series/Pay Band                  NF-0189-02, $15.00 p/hr

Employment Category        Flexible Employment, No Benefits Apply.

20 to 25 hours p/week, to include early morning opening shifts (5:15AM), evening closing shifts (8:45PM), weekends, Holidays and special events as scheduled.

Description of Duties        To provide assistance in the operation and maintenance of the facility, to include ability to lift weight up to 50lbs when cleaning the facility.  Assists with the counter control of the Fitness Center, which includes resale transactions, answering phones and customer questions.  Verifies patron eligibility, issues gear, and prepares facility for scheduled events.  Patrols facility, circulating among patrons to maintain good order and ensuring the safe operation of equipment. 

Assists with intramural sporting events and score keeping.  Provides basic fitness orientation and in-house training of basic fitness principles.  Must be able to answer basic fitness related questions and show members how to properly use all equipment.

Preferred Experience:

*          A fitness or sports background, with a basic knowledge of the rules and practices of recreational activities.  Ability to learn the basics of fitness equipment and general physical fitness edict.

*          Knowledge of general office practices & procedures such as word processing, inventory, data collecting and spreadsheet knowledge.

*          Good customer service skills, proper telephone etiquette and cash handling experience.

*          applicant is required to have a CPR/ AED/ First Aid certification from a recognized organization or willing to obtain within 90 days.
